Frontal fibrosing alopecia

It is a specific form of lichen acuminatus of hairy scalp. It is most often present in case of women after menopause but may refer to younger people as well. Typically, it includes the border line of hair in the area of a forehead. Clinically, in early stages of the disease pink-violet papules with hyperkeratosis pilaris are visible. In advanced stages of the disease, there is visible so called “headband symptom” (moving the frontal line up) as a result of fibrosis.

In trichoscopy there are visible: desquamation, loss of connective tissue hair sheaths’ vents and erythema around hair follicles.

Curing: immunosuppressive medicaments used topically or in more advanced cases – orally.
