Folliculitis decalvans

Sycosis leading to the destruction of connective tissue hair sheaths. In etiopathogenesis the participation of Staphylococcus aureus is posited. Initially, there are visible singular or multiple perifollicular papules and pustules, sometimes covered with crusts, in the area of scalp. As the disease progresses, decolorized, shiny cicatrization focuses of irregular shapes are visible. Additionally, around connective tissue hair sheaths placed on circumference of scars there are visible pink-white spots corresponding to an inflammatory process taking place. A long-lasting process leads to the creation of alopecia focuses with residual hair kemps, so called “ brush symptom”. These skin changes can be accompanied by itchiness, pain and the feeling of scalp tautness. It shall be remembered that the disease is marked by chronic, nonstationary and hard to cure course, so it is really valid to diagnose the disease fast and introduce a proper cure immediately.

Curing: antibiotic therapy, isotretinoin – orally
