Glucocorticosteroids thanks to their anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, anti-allergic, anti-exudative and anti-proliferative qualities have found applications in treating lots of dermatologic diseases. Their intralesional application is recommended in case of changes resistant to topical treatment. It is also a method chosen to treat keloids. Thanks to stopping their growth and decrease of the thickness, scars become less visible.
The preparation, with the use of a needle, is applied to the areas changed by a disease process.
In the place of the treatment skin may be red and there may appear some bruising connected to a blood vessel damage. These symptoms usually disappear within 2 –7 days.
Stopping the disease process, in case of keloid- stopping its growth, decrease of its thickness, the change of colour from red to pink, nude.
Zahamowanie procesu chorobowego, w przypadku keloidu/ blizny przerosłej zahamowanie wzrostu, zmniejszenie grubości, zmiana koloru z czerwonego na różowy, cielisty.
Usually, it is recommended to undergo a few treatments which can be repeated after circa 14 –30 days.
In case of keloids resistant to the treatment it is recommended to combine intralesional application of glucocorticosteroids with cryotherapy.
